 Algoma Central Railway
The Algoma Central Railway operates regular Passenger Service
between our depot in Sault Ste. Marie and our northern terminus,
296 miles to the north, in Hearst, Ontario Canada. Our rail line
runs through the heart of 22,000 square miles of recreational
wilderness called Algoma Country and provides access to numerous
lakes and rivers, private camps and cottages and a variety of
Wilderness Lodges. In many cases the Railway is the only means
of access to this remote region.
Agawa Canyon Tour - This one day wilderness excursion will take
you 114 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, over towering trestles,
alongside pristine northern lakes and rivers, and through the
awesome granite rock formations and mixed forests of the Canadian

Batchawana Bay area on Lake Superior, prized for its clean waters,
sand beaches, and wilderness islands. From the Gitchee Gumee
marina, you can embark on a custom cruise, or enjoy one of our
sightseeing tours, island adventures, or fishing trips.
Our boat, the "Paradise Pointer", piloted by Captain
Ben Van Der Swan, is a 33 foot Carver "Monterey" powered
by twin 225 HP Mercruisers. It can hold up to 10 people, and
has a large private bathroom, a fridge, running water, and a
comfortable lounge with a view. We are fully equipped with electric
downriggers and all the necessary equipment for all you anglers
out there, and we have all the necessary safety gear, coast guard
inspected and approved. When you take a cruise on the Paradise
Pointer, you enjoy the beauty of Lake Superior in the comfort
